Farmville, Va. - John Prengaman was named general manager and head golf professional for Poplar Hill Golf Club.
Prengaman, a Class A Member of the Professional Golfers Association, comes to Poplar Hill from Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort and Conference Center in Blairsville, Pa., where he served as director of golf. Before that, he served as g.m. and director of golf at Grandview Golf Club and Banquet Center in York, Pa.
“I'm honored to be joining the dedicated team at Poplar Hill Golf Club and look forward to contributing to the development of this premier facility," Prengaman says.
“We are excited to have someone with John’s experience in golf club and hospitality operations," says Arthur Jeffords, president of Lighthouse Golf Group, which manages the facility. "He brings the type of management experience we were searching for with the upscale golf club, on-site hotel and conference center, and residential community at Poplar Hill.”
The 18-hole championship course, designed by architect, Rick Robbins, is the center piece of a 1,060 acre master planned mixed-use residential/resort community in Prince Edward County in central Virginia. Course opening is planned for early summer of this year. The property is located 4 miles from downtown Farmville and 60 miles southwest of Richmond. The master plan for the community includes the golf course and clubhouse, an inn and executive conference center and about 1,000 to 1,200 residential units including single family homes, golf villa duplex units, townhouse units, and condominiums. www.poplarhillfarmville.com
