Poconos golf continues to grow

Split Rock Resort is adding a new clubhouse and a waterpark to the area’s golf cooperative.

Pocono Mountains, Pa. – Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony is on schedule to open its 11,000-square-foot golf clubhouse in the spring and has also broken ground on its 50,000-square-foot indoor waterpark, according to the Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau, Inc.

These amenities add to an array of amenities Split Rock Resort offers its guests, including 27 holes of championship golf – with nine more already designed and planned for a spring 2008 debut.

This announcement comes on the heels of Jack Frost National Golf Club announcing last month that its 18-hole championship course in the Pocono Mountains is on schedule to open in 2006.

Split Rock Resort and Jack Frost National are two of 35 golf and resort properties which comprise the area’s rich golf destination.

“Split Rock Resort is committed to providing our guests with high-quality options at a great value which combine to provide our guests with diverse, pleasing resort stays,” says Shelly Lutz, director of marketing for Split Rock Resort. “Split Rock Resort offers something for everyone, from families and couples to golfers and large groups and conferences.”

The new Split Rock clubhouse will open next spring with a full pro shop, locker rooms, café, full restaurant and bar and an area for tournament receptions.

Split Rock’s waterpark will feature a family raft ride, two water slides, a wave pool and a multi-level play structure. It will also feature a surf system allowing boogie boarding and stand up surfing. The park is scheduled to open in 2006-07.

In addition to its 27-hole golf complex, other Split Rock Resort amenities include a cinema, fitness center, bowling alley, indoor and outdoor tennis and basketball courts, miniature putting course, among other things.

“Resort amenities are the lifeblood of an area like the Pocono Mountains, so we’re extremely pleased by the proactive efforts member resorts like Split Rock are implementing to enhance their vacation offerings,” says Robert Uguccioni, executive director of the Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau, Inc.
