Planet Turf promotes Jared Whitaker

12-year company veteran and former golf maintenance pro replaces Riley Connolly as president.

Planet Turf announced it has promoted Jared Whitaker to president.

Whitaker fills the position formerly held by Riley Connolly, who is moving to Denver to pursue another career. In addition to his duties as president, Whitaker will continue to serve his current customers in Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Alaska.

Connolly worked for Planet Turf for six years and was instrumental in managing Planet Turf during its largest growth period since the company began 13 years ago.

“We all wish Riley the best in his new adventure.” said Jim Connolly, Riley’s father and Planet Turf owner. “Jared has been my right-hand from the beginning and has been involved in every major business decision at Planet Turf. He will do a great job.”

Whitaker graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy. His family farms in central Washington and his roots are well-established in all areas of agronomy, horticulture and golf course maintenance. Before joining Planet Turf in 2010, he worked at Sonoma Golf Club, Atlantic City Golf Club and Tributary Golf Club (Formerly Huntsman Springs). Whitaker lives in Hartline, Washington, with his wife Karin and three children.
