Celebration bermudagrass has benefited from rapid expansion in the golf, sports field, commercial and residential markets over the last few years. But in parts of Georgia, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, it has been tougher to acquire a large amount of the grass for jobs like golf course installation.
That will change soon with the addition of Adel, Ga.-based Pike Creek Turf as a licensed producer of Celebration. Pike Creek Turf, which specializes in golf course installation, has a wide range and scope in the southeastern United States.
“We have seen Celebration’s success in the South and watched its growth as a major player in the bermudagrass market,” said Pike Creek’s owner Jimmy Allen. “We think we can help bring this grass to parts of the country where it hasn’t been available before.”
Celebration fields totaling between 50 and 75 acres will be planted at Pike Creek’s Adel, Ga., sod farm this spring and should be ready for harvest and sale by late summer.
