Rochester, N.Y. – Pictometry International now has visual information systems deployed at a number of country clubs and golf courses including Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., and Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.
“We are aggressively presenting our cost-effective solution to both small and large golf and country clubs across the nation,” Jim Murray, director of business-to-business development, says. “The response has been positively overwhelming.”
Pictometry’s software enables golf course management officials and other users to access up to 12 different views of every fairway, green or other feature on a golf course in a 3D-like format. The software also allows users to create measurements such as distance, height, elevation and area, directly from the oblique imagery as well as insert GIS and other data. Traditionally used by government agencies, engineers and architects in a wide range of applications, Pictometry’s visual information provides golf course management professionals with an outstanding way to view their courses, overlay irrigation and other systems, plan for events, and more efficiently re-engineer their courses as needed.
“Having the ability to overlay our irrigation system and underground utilities directly on Pictometry’s high-quality aerial photos is a huge improvement over the GPS maps we’ve used in the past,” Oak Hill County Club superintendent Jeff Corcoran says. “This software definitely has tremendous potential in the industry.”
“We are using Pictometry to help prepare our course for the 2007 US Open,” says Oakmont superintendent John Zimmers. “We have also used Pictometry for a recent restoration project. It is a very, very useful tool.”
The feedback has been favorable, according to Dante Pennacchia, chief marketing officer at Pictometry.
“We are very pleased with the progress that we are making in the golf industry, he says. “The responses we are getting from professional management at courses of all sizes and venues has been very favorable, confirming our research that this is another market where operational efficiencies can increase by using our technology.”
