Phoenix Environmental Care adds Thrasher Herbicide to product line

Selective herbicide controls Poa annua in cool-season grasses and overseeded bermudagrass, and a number of weed species.

Phoenix Environmental Care announced the addition of Thrasher herbicide, a low-odor, water-based herbicide, to its line of products.

Thrasher is a selective herbicide, containing the active ingredient ethofumesate, that controls Poa annua in cool-season grasses and overseeded bermudagrass.

Thrasher can also be used  pre- and post-emergent for control of weed species including annual bluegrass, large and smooth crabgrass, barnyardgrass, green and yellow foxtail, canarygrass, burr clover, common chickweed, common purslane, redroot pigweed, yellow and purple nutsedge and white clover.

“Using Thrasher as part of a comprehensive herbicide program can provide excellent pre-emergent and post-emergent control of Poa annua and other weed species every season,” says Rick Grant, director of business development, Phoenix Environmental Care. “Thrasher can be used with other Phoenix Environmental Care products, such as Knighthawk, Harrier, Rook, CutDown and GoldWing to effectively manage Poa annua on virtually any golf course.”

Thrasher is approved for use on ornamental turf sites including golf courses, sod farms, parks, cemeteries and commercial and homeowner lawns.

Thrasher is available in a convenient one-gallon size. The product is more concentrated than old competitive formulations, creating less packaging waste -- a benefit for ease of storage and the environment. It also carries a ”Caution” signal word as opposed to ”Danger” on competitive formulations.

Thrasher will be available for the 2010 season.
