PGA National expands team

Arthur Chernov was named vice president, sales and marketing and Ian Hawthorne was appointed director of food and beverage at PGA National Resort & Golf Club.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – David Feder, president of PGA National Resort & Golf Club named Arthur Chernov vice president of sales and marketing. He joins a new management team led by Feder, who joined the resort this past spring.

Chernov was vice president of sales and marketing for the five-star Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, and parent company, Raphael Hotels for 14 years. Previously, he was vice president, sales and marketing for the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J.

“Arthur’s extensive background in sales and marketing in the South Florida market will be a tremendous asset to PGA National,” says Feder. “He understands how to market resort properties and will position PGA to reach its maximum potential.”

Feder also announced the appointment of Ian Hawthorne as director of food and beverage for PGA National. Hawthorne will be responsible for all aspects of the food and beverage operations for the resort and club, overseeing sales and standards for the hotel’s eight restaurants including the well known Shula’s Steak House, the members’ dining rooms and the resort’s catering and banquet departments.

Hawthorne joins the resort from the Grand Geneva Resort in Wisconsin where he served as director of food and beverage. Prior to this, Hawthorne worked for the Registry Resort and Club in Naples, Florida in the same capacity.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Hawthorne received his degree from Westminster University and was affiliated with some of the finest hotels in London. He has also served as food and beverage director for such properties as the Ritz Carlton and Hilton Hotels in Washington, D.C.
