PGA Golf Club to begin capital improvements

The PGA Golf Club, The PGA of America’s golf facility at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla., will begin a multimillion-dollar, capital-improvement program in May.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – The PGA Golf Club, The PGA of America’s golf facility at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla., will begin a two-year, multimillion-dollar, capital-improvement program in May.

As The PGA Golf Club celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, the improvement program will touch on all elements of the facility, which features two Tom Fazio-designed and one Pete Dye-designed courses.

The program features a conversion of all putting surfaces to Champion ultradwarf Bermudagrass, bunker refurbishment, improved drainage, a clubhouse expansion, and a considerable addition to landscaping that enhances the Fazio and Dye designs.

“One decade ago, The PGA Golf Club set out on a journey to become the most unique public-access facility in the country - a club that served as home to the PGA Professional and open to the public,” says PGA of America president Roger Warren. “The PGA Golf Club continues to be a popular attraction for golfers nationwide, and we believe the capital-improvement program will further underscore our association’s commitment to provide the ultimate golf experience for generations to come.”

The only PGA-owned and operated public golf facility, The PGA Golf Club debuted in 1996 as Golf Digest’s “Best New Affordable Course in North America,” and all three courses - The North, South and Dye Courses - carry Audubon International Signature status for their compliance with environmental requirements. The North and South Courses opened for play in 1996, and the Dye Course in 2000.

Celebrating its 90th anniversary, The PGA of America was founded in 1916, and is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the game of golf, while continuing to enhance the standards of the profession. The Association is comprised of more than 28,000 men and women PGA Professionals who are dedicated to growing participation in the game of golf.
