PGA continues EIG support

PGA of America renews Steranka's seat on Advisory Council

The PGA of America has renewed its support of The Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), with CEO Joe Steranka continuing to serve on The Institute's Advisory Council.

The Advisory Council, headed by World Golf Hall of Fame member Greg Norman, provides guidance to The Institute's board of trustees in the areas of outreach, fundraising and strategic planning. The members are selected to enhance The Institute's ability to cultivate relationships with current and potential donors, as well as communicate the importance of the work conducted by The Institute.

“The PGA of America is one of The Institute's strongest supporters,” Norman says. “We are pleased to have the association and its members share our mission to foster golf's compatibility with our natural environment.”

Steranka was named The PGA of America's chief executive officer in 2005, and is a 28-year veteran of the sports industry, the last 20 with the PGA. He has adopted the phrase, "Think global and act local," in guiding The PGA and the golf industry both domestically and around the world in his two decades of work and service. Steranka also serves on the board of directors for Children's Healthcare Charity Inc., which operates the PGA Tour's Honda Classic; the World Golf Foundation's board of directors; the Folds of Honor Foundation board of directors; the Florida Sports Foundation board of directors; and the Selection Committee for the World Golf Hall of Fame. He is also a National Trustee for The First Tee and chairman of Golf 20/20, an industry council dedicated to sustaining the future vitality of the game.

"It is a natural fit for The PGA of America to support The Environmental Institute for Golf," Steranka says. "The Institute is really making significant progress in its important work and as a leader in this industry, The PGA is proud to be a part of it. I look forward to continuing my service on the Advisory Council as a representative of our membership."
