Pender Harbour Golf Club, operated and managed by the Pender Harbour Golf Club Society, located on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, announced the appointment of the Canadian- and British-based golf course architectural firm Lobb + Partners.
Lobb + Partners will conduct a golf course review and provide a hole-by-hole documentation of the nine-hole facility as it exists today. The review process and the resulting submission will allow Lobb + Partners, in conjunction with superintendent Allan Dewald and the volunteer member board, to prioritize a list of golf course improvement projects.
A desire to ease course maintenance in certain areas and enhance the playability and golf experience for members and guests is at the forefront of the process.
“PHGC’s strategic partnership with Lobb + Partners in envisioned as a massive opportunity to partner with a reputable global golf course architecture and consulting firm,” Pender Harbour board member Brett Hallborg said. “Strategic planning and short-term goal setting, utilizing the expertise of Lobb + Partners, will surely enable Pender Harbour Golf Club to continue to operate successfully as a Society under the BC Societies Act, while further growing the game of golf on the Sunshine Coast.”
The review work is scheduled to commence during the winter of 2020.
“Not only is PHGC a memorable golf experience and wonderful example of successful community golf, it is also example of passionate, innovative, forward-thinking people who have come together over their love for golf,” Lobb + Partners design associate Oliver Tubb said. “We are really excited for this opportunity and look forward to working with Allan and his team, along with the society members, to help craft a sustainable vision and plan for course improvements.”
