Overland Park, Kansas – PeakVision Sports sunglasses have been selected as the official eyewear of “The Big Break V,” The Golf Channel’s reality-based golf skills competition.
The Big Break V’s cast of all-female contestants will have access to the full suite of PeakVision’s high-performance eyewear, including the original Chip, Classic, Neva and Shot models, the recently introduced Cyber, Slam and Spin models, and the soon-to-be-released, low-profile Edge frames.
Show hosts Vince Cellini and Stephanie Sparks will sport PeakVisions during appropriate takes or as desired, and The Big Break V production crew will be featured wearing their “Peaks” during episodes of “Big BreakV All-Access,” the behind the scenes show.
“The Golf Channel is excited to have PeakVision Sports as the official eyewear provider for The Big Break V,” says Chuck Conner, director of strategic partnerships for The Golf Channel. “We think this will be our most popular show to date, and the quality of the PeakVision product and its applicability to the filming environment raises the bar even higher.”
The Big Break V films Oct. 16 through 30 at the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore. Contestants will test their skills on the George Fazio-designed resort course, site of the inaugural Senior Skins Game, and the Arnold Palmer designed championship course – home of the Champions Tour’s Turtle Bay Championship. The show will air in February 2006 with the finale slated for May. All told, The Golf Channel will feature 200 program-hours of The Big Break V and The Big Break V All-Access over the four-month span.
“The Golf Channel is one of the most-recognized golf media outlets in the world, and The Big Break is one of its most popular programs,” says Paul Moore, c.e.o. of PeakVision Sports. “We are proud to be associated with both, and PeakVision’s golf-specific optics are the perfect fit for the contestants, hosts and production crew.”
Wearing PeakVisions during competition will be optional for the women of The Big Break V; however, Moore believes the improved ability to read greens and fairway contours, and to more accurately judge distances from tee to green will lead them to give Peaks a try.
“Golfers who have never worn sunglasses on-course are quick to recognize PeakVision’s performance advantages,” Moore says. “Golfers who traditionally relegate sunglasses to their hats and visors enthusiastically wear PeakVisions while hitting every shot from the first drive to the last putt.”
