Partners added at Spanish Oaks

Austin, Texas – Discovery Land Company and Hillwood have entered into a partnership with CCNG Realty to complete development of the Spanish Oaks Golf Community near Austin. The new partnership will invest substantial new equity – the majority of which will be funded by Hillwood – in the project.

“I wanted partners whose missions were consistent with my original vision for Spanish Oaks, which was to create a premier golf community while preserving the integrity of the natural surroundings,” says Daniel Porter, chairman and c.e.o. of CCNG Realty. “Discovery Land Company and Hillwood have a proven track record of doing just that.”

Spanish Oaks is located on 1,200 acres 15 miles west of downtown Austin. The community is cradled on two sides by nature preserves and Barton Creek. Spanish Oaks is also home to an 18-hole private golf course that recently was recognized as one of the best in Texas by Golf Digest.

“This is one of the most beautiful regions in Texas, and we were incredibly impressed with the dedication that Daniel Porter, founder of Spanish Oaks, has to preserving its natural integrity and the inviting Hill Country lifestyle,” says Mike Meldman, chairman and c.e.o. of Discovery Land Company.

Spanish Oaks will feature a clubhouse that will offer spa treatments, fitness facilities, members’ shopping boutique, lounge areas, swimming facilities and both fine and casual dining. In addition, an “outdoor pursuits program” to assist residents with recreational opportunities in and around Austin and the Hill Country will be provided.

Meldman says the next step will be to review the real estate offerings. The new business strategy also includes extending invitations for membership only to those individuals who own property in the community.

Spanish Oaks will offer 400 homesites and villas, and abundant open space with trails that meander throughout the gated community’s hills and meadows.
