AGA Management named Albert Murdock the new general manager of Phoenix’s Papago Golf Course.
Murdock, who will assume his duties on Sept. 1, is the second senior manager named for the course, which is undergoing a $6 million renovation. In June, Tom Wolff was named as the golf course’s new golf course superintendent.
The course is expected to open in November. Thirteen holes have now been completely seeded and green complexes soon will be mowed for the first time.
Murdock comes to Papago with a host of golf industry experience. Most recently, he was general manager at Los Palomas Golf Club in Rocky Point, Mexico. He also has been general manager of Apache Stronghold Golf Club, San Carlos, Ariz., and has served as a golf professional at Pinewoods Country Club in Munds Park, Ariz., and a teaching professional at Clubwest Golf Club and Camelback Golf Club, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Murdock is a longtime member of the PGA of America, serving as a rules official at several top level golf tournaments and being an officer in the Southwest Section of the PGA from 2003-2007, including a term as president. He now serves as its honorary president.
"My goal at Papago is for every staff person to be the best they can be everyday," Murdock says. "When our customers and clients leave Papago we want everyone of them to have had a great customer service experience, professionalism at its highest level and treated like they expect to be treated at a first class golf facility."
