Palmer announces reorganization plan

Chairman Arnold Palmer announced a restructuring of the executive staff of the Palmer Course Design Company.

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – Chairman Arnold Palmer announced a restructuring of the executive staff of the Palmer Course Design Company “in order to best serve our customers and ensure the long-term success of the business.”

The reorganization chart:
Ed Seay, president; Erik Larsen, executive vice president, senior golf course architect and managing director; Deborah Thode, senior vice president and director of business; Harrison Minchew, vice president, senior golf course architect and director of design services; and Vicki Martz, vice president, senior golf course architect and director of environmental services.

PCDC has been a worldwide leader in golf course architecture for more than 35 years. “This reorganization will keep PCDC postured to continue its services for years to come,” Palmer says.

Seay, who joined with Palmer in the formation of the company in 1974, is recuperating from a recent surgical procedure as part of his recovery from cancer and is back in his office on a part-time basis.

Larsen received his degree in landscape/horticulture from North Carolina State University. He is a regular member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects, a full member of the Urban Land Institute, and a registered landscape architect. Since joining Palmer Course Design Company in 1983, He has been involved in the design of more than 100 completed golf courses worldwide. Larson will be focused on developing new business while running the company for Palmer and Seay.

Thode joined Palmer Course Design Company in 1988 and received her bachelor’s degree in business marketing and is currently enrolled at Jacksonville University where she is pursuing her Masters in business administration. She is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the areas of budget and fiscal management, public and community relations, corporate affairs, human resources, and general business operations as well as developing new business.

Minchew received his degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia. He is a regular member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and the American Society of Landscape Architects. Since joining Palmer Course Design Company in 1982, Minchew has been involved in the design of more than 100 completed golf courses worldwide. He will be responsible for ensuring the overall quality of plans, specifications, and construction inspection services as well as continuing in his role as a senior golf course architect.

Martz majored in landscape architecture at the University of Kentucky and is a regular member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute, American Society of Landscape Architects, Florida Native Plant Society, and the Executive Women’s Golf Association. Since joining Palmer Course Design Company in 1985, Martz has been involved in the design of more than 60 completed golf courses worldwide. In addition to her duties as a Senior Golf Course Architect, she will be coordinating and assisting the owner’s consultants in preparing comprehensive environmental site assessments. This includes wetlands management, permitting, native grass and plant selection, and evaluation of wildlife habitat.
