Orchard nine completes Lincoln Hills

The Greg Nash-designed course completes the 36-hole club that also features the Hills Course.

Lincoln, Calif. – The Orchard Course at The Lincoln Hills Club is now open for public play. The completion of the Orchard Course also marks the completion of The Lincoln Hills Club, a premier 36-hole golf facility in the Sacramento area.

Fla
The Hills Course joins the Orchard Course to comprise Lincoln Hills' 36-hole layout.

“With the opening of the Orchard Course, we’re able to offer two unique golf experiences,” says Tim Berg, director of golf for The Lincoln Hills Club. “Two golf courses also allow for the flexibility to simultaneously accommodate area residents, public play and group outings.”

The Lincoln Hills Club opened for public play in 1999 as an 18-hole, Billy Casper/Greg Nash-designed golf course made up of two nines – the Orchard nine and the Hills nine. In 2004, another nine holes were added to the existing Hills nine, thereby completing the 18-hole Hills Course. And the final nine, completed in the summer of 2005, was added to the Orchard nine to make the Orchard Course. Both of the new nines were solely designed by Greg Nash.
The Orchard Course is a par-72, 7,042-yard layout, and the Hills Course, also par-72, stretches to 6,876 yards.

“The completion of both golf courses puts The Lincoln Hills Club in a great position within the Northern California golf market,” says Phil Green, president of OB Sports Golf Management. “We now offer 36 holes of golf, well-manicured conditions, excellent customer service and a competitive price-point.”

The Lincoln Hills Club is managed by OB Sports Golf Management, a diversified, golf-oriented company.

As director of golf, Berg is responsible for managing all aspects of golf course operations including staffing, merchandising, budgeting, food and beverage and marketing for The Lincoln Hills Club.

Berg’s career in the golf industry spans more than 40 years beginning in 1964 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. During his career, Berg has developed an extensive resume as a manager of various golf clubs: The City of Portland, Oregon Golf Courses; Pebble Beach Company Golf Courses; Sunriver Resort Golf Courses and Blue Rock Springs Golf Courses.

Berg has played on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour, and has amassed a list of accomplishments:
· Selected to the Pacific Northwest PGA Hall of Fame;
· 1988 Pacific Northwest Senior Player of the Year;
· Two-time Pacific Northwest Open Champion;
· Two-time Pacific Northwest Senior Open Champion; and
· Competed in four National Senior PGA Championships.

Jim Daily is the golf course superintendent and Mathew Munoz is the head golf professional.

As golf course superintendent for The Lincoln Hills Club, Daily is responsible for the overall maintenance and playability of the golf course.

“Jim worked for OB Sports years ago, and during that time he demonstrated that he had a strong work ethic and good understanding of Agronomy,” says Phil Green, president of OB Sports Golf Management.  “We’re happy to have him back.  He’s the right guy to handle the 36-hole operation at The Lincoln Hills Club.”

Prior to joining The Lincoln Hills Club, Daily worked as an assistant superintendent and/or greenskeeper for several high-end clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest including: Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.; Winchester Country Club in Meadow Vista, Calif.; Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.; Sunset Whitney Country Club in Rocklin, Calif., and Riverside Golf and Country Club in Portland, Ore.

Daily earned a degree in Turf and Landscape Management from Oregon State University in 1999, and went on to become a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, as well as the Northern California chapter of the GCSAA.

As head golf professional for The Lincoln Hills Club, Munoz is responsible for the management of golf operations including customer service, merchandising, inventory control, tournament operations, daily play and instruction.

“Matt’s hands-on experience in golf operations is a great asset to our club,” says Berg. “In addition to golf operations, Matt is a skilled staff manager. He is an effective communicator which in turn maximizes our service standards and guest satisfaction.”

Prior to joining The Lincoln Hills Club, Munoz served as assistant golf professional for Silverado Country Club and Resort located in Napa, Calif., where he was responsible for more than 40 staff members. The planning, hosting and follow-up for corporate events, individual golf lesson, group golf lessons and daily play made up a large share of Munoz’s duties while at Silverado Country Club. Over a 10-year career, Munoz worked his way through the ranks – first tee starter, PGA Apprentice, golf department supervisor and assistant golf professional – to earn his class “A” certification from the PGA in 1999.

Munoz has a bachelor’s degree in communications from California State University in Sacramento.
