Olympic View Golf Club in Langford, British Columbia, unveiled a new golf course architectural master plan in collaboration with international design firm Lobb + Partners. Announced during the club’s 35th anniversary, the plan emphasizes sustainability, strategic refinement and long-term stewardship, setting the stage for a multi-season evolution that will enhance both playability and environmental value.

The plan is designed as a careful evolution rather than a dramatic redesign, reflecting Olympic View’s commitment to preserving natural beauty while improving the golfer experience. Central to the initiative is the pursuit of GEO Certification, a globally recognized standard for sustainable golf management that promotes water conservation, biodiversity, efficient maintenance and community engagement.

“This master plan aligns perfectly with our GEO Certification goal,” golf course superintendent T-Jay Creamer said. “It’s not just about how the course plays — it’s about how it integrates with the surrounding nature and how we ensure it thrives for decades to come.”

Developed by Lobb + Partners, whose portfolio spans five continents, the plan introduces refinements such as wider fairways, expanded short-grass areas, naturalized zones to support biodiversity, and strategic hazard placement that balances challenge and accessibility. These enhancements are expected to improve pace of play and ensure consistent course conditioning year-round.

“Olympic View is a special site,” Lobb + Partners partner Alex Hay said. “Our goal was to preserve the character of the existing layout while introducing updates that enhance sustainability, strategy and visual impact. It’s about helping the course evolve in a way that feels natural and enduring.”

Work begins this fall with the reconstruction of the seventh green, providing more variety and fairness in pin placements. With tradition and innovation at its core, the master plan represents a new era for Olympic View that balances playability with sustainability, and golf with community.

Olympic View is owned and operated by Vancouver-based GolfBC Group, one of Western Canada’s largest multi-course golf course owners/operators.
