Olde York Country Club, a private country club nestled in the rolling hills of upper Burlington County, N.J., named expert golf instructor Jim Vernon head golf professional.
A Class-A PGA professional, Vernon comes to the award-winning Olde York Country Club after 12 years as head golf professional and lead instructor at the prestigious Cherry Valley Country Club in Princeton, N.J.
While at Cherry Valley, Vernon conducted thousands of private lessons, supervised the club’s golf shop operation which was nominated for the New Jersey PGA merchandiser of the year for five consecutive years, directed seasonal staff and annually implemented more than 50 member tournaments and 30 corporate/charitable outings.
Throughout his career, Vernon has had the opportunity to work with and learn from renowned golf instructors such as Craig Shankland (2001 PGA Teacher of the Year) and Butch Harmon. He is a certified club fitter for Ping, Callaway, Titleist and Henry-Griffitts and is a member of the Taylor Made Professional Advisory Board.
Now Vernon brings his extensive experience to Olde York and its thriving membership.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to work at such a great facility as Olde York, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge of the game with the club’s enthusiastic members,” Vernon said.
Vernon has added the Olde York “One Day Golf School” for members and has introduced a full-slate of junior clinics and junior camps that will run through the end of summer.
In addition to instruction, Vernon will prepare and oversee golf operations budgets; supervise golf staff; enforce club policies and regulations; and interface with club officials and golf committee members.
