NYSTA readies for Challenge

Liberty, N.Y. – The 6th Annual Sullivan County Challenge fundraising tournament will be at Grossinger Country Club, in Liberty, N.Y., Aug. 24. The New York State Turfgrass Association, Grossinger Country Club and the Hudson Valley Golf Course Superintendents Association will sponsor the tournament. The outing will begin with a 10:30 a.m. registration, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. lunch and 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

An “open bar” cocktail reception will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. where hors d’oeuvres will be served and raffle prizes will be awarded. The cost to register is $100, which covers all of the day’s events.

The Annual Sullivan County Challenge is one of NYSTA’s most successful fundraiser tournaments with five years of proceeds totaling $45,336. The proceeds from this year’s tournament will support the lobbying efforts of the New York Alliance for Environmental Concerns and assist NYSTA’s legislative efforts to promote environmental issues in New York State. In addition, these funds will help finance 2006 Turfgrass Advocacy, NYSTA’s lobby day and support turfgrass environmental research through the New York Turfgrass Foundation. Those who sponsor the event are offered exposure through signage, announcements and tournament publicity. 

The New York State Turfgrass Association is comprised of 1,800 green industry professionals who have joined together to share technology, promote environmental stewardship, support education, advance research and disseminate research findings.
