Colonie, N.Y. – The New York State Turfgrass Association presented the Citation of Merit award to Horst Pogge, chairman of the board of Grassland Equipment & Irrigation Corporation, Inc. The award was presented Nov. 16, 2005, at the Empire State Green Industry Show in Rochester, N.Y.
Pogge was chosen to receive the Citation of Merit, NYSTA’s most prestigious award, because he has demonstrated all of the necessary criteria: dedication to turfgrass research and education; involvement in and support of association activities; interest in promoting careers in the turfgrass industry; community involvement; and admiration and respect of peers and colleagues.
Pogge, a German immigrant with an extensive agricultural background, has devoted much of his time and resources for the benefit of the green industry. He has made major equipment donations to SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi and is a supporting member of many industry association programs, trade shows and golf tournaments.
