Phipps had been the Northeast regional sales manager the past 6.5 years for the turf and specialty division of Nufarm Americas. Previously, he had worked for Moyer & Son of Souderton, Pa., in sales and management capacities. Phipps expanded his industry role as he became involved in many national associations and various legislative efforts during his career. He was a lifelong resident of eastern Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of science degree from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in 1982. Mark was known as a passionate participant in local politics, community and church activities as well.

“Mark had a generous, giving spirit and cared deeply for his family, friends and work colleagues,” says Sean Casey, Nufarm’s vice president of sales, turf  and ornamental and one of Mark’s closest friends. “We will miss the warmth, character and enthusiasm he brought to everything he did and are extremely grateful for the time we were allowed to have him as a member of our Nufarm family.”

Born in West Chester, Pa., Phipps was the son of Carol G. Phipps of Sunset Beach, N.C., and the late William J. Phipps. In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cathy; his son, Ryan, and his daughter, Emily; his sisters, Barbara Norris and her husband, Jeffrey, of Downingtown, Pa., and Joyce Dennett of Kennett Square, Pa.; three nieces and three nephews. A nephew also preceded him in death.

A gathering of family, friends and industry colleagues turned out for Phipp’s memorial service, which was held March 30. The family requests that any contributions in his memory be made to the “John Hancock Freedom 529” c/o Seitz, Leatherman and Kolb, LLC, 595 Bethlehem Pike, Suite 204, Montgomeryville, Pa. 18936 for the Phipps children’s education fund.
