North Jersey Country Club names Dan Kilpatrick superintendent

Kilpatrick arrives at Walter Travis-designed course after 12 years as superintendent of Baltusrol Golf Club’s famed Lower Course.

The private, member-owned North Jersey Country Club in Passaic County, New Jersey, announced the hiring of Dan Kilpatrick as golf course superintendent. Kilpatrick, who spent 15 years at Baltusrol Golf Club and served as its Lower Course Superintendent since 2006, is now entrusted with preserving and enhancing North Jersey’s Walter Travis-designed golf course.

“We are excited to welcome Dan to North Jersey Country Club,” general manager Ryan Dionne said. “His credentials as a top agronomist and his reputation for delivering exceptional course conditions will enhance our golf course, benefiting both the members and guests of our historic property.”

Born and raised in Canada, Kilpatrick is a graduate of Penn State University’s turfgrass management program. He worked as part of the grounds crew at The Toronto Golf Club while getting his degree and subsequently came to Baltusrol as an intern in 2003.

Kilpatrick quickly rose through the ranks and within three years was named superintendent of the Lower Course, perennially ranked among the top golf courses in the United States. His experience at the award-winning club included two PGA Championships (2005, 2016), a multimillion-dollar course renovation project and supervision of daily course maintenance. Kilpatrick and his crew received rave reviews from competitors for maintaining course conditions through challenging weather delays at both PGAs.

Kilpatrick now turns his attention to the rolling fairways, speedy greens, and beautiful grounds at the highly regarded North Jersey Country Club.

“North Jersey Country Club has a limitless future based on the membership’s involvement in all aspects of the club,” Kilpatrick said. “It’s Walter Travis course has a tremendous amount of character and potential, and the club’s board of directors challenge themselves and the management team to continually enhance member satisfaction and value. I couldn’t be happier to be here.”
