Nitamin Coated Sand gets wider distribution

Chicagoland Turf will make Nitamin Coated Sand available in additional midwestern states.

ATLANTA – Nitamin Coated Sand distributor Fairmount Minerals has added Chicagoland Turf as a partner in the expansion of its distribution capabilities in the Midwest golf course and turf market. Earlier this year, Fairmount also entered into a distribution agreement with Weaver Turf & Golf Solutions, based in New York and Pro Plus Golf Services, based in Florida, to increase the distribution of Nitamin Coated Sand in the northeastern states, South Carolina and Florida.

“We’re excited to team up with our new distributor, Chicagoland Turf,” says Chris Osborne, director of sports turf products for Fairmount Minerals. “They are well respected in the field and their expertise will help us further our reach in the Midwest. Our customers who apply Nitamin Coated Sand as a part of their fertilizer program are seeing great results in the quality of their turf. This alliance will assist us in capturing more successes.”

Nitamin Coated Sand, developed by Georgia-Pacific, is a patented way to provide Nitamin Steady-Delivery nitrogen fertilizer technology to turf. The Steady-Delivery technology ensures that a regular supply of nitrogen is released within the soil for an extended period of time, keeping turf green and healthy for months with fewer applications and very low risk of turf burn.

Chicagoland Turf is based in Addison, Ill., and is an independent distributor of turf and ornamental products in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.

“Our customers rely on us to bring them innovative turf products so we are excited about adding Nitamin Coated Sand to our portfolio,” says Trent Bradford, president of Chicagoland Turf. “We work with golf course superintendents and turf managers who value products that help them achieve faster turf recovery and we expect Nitamin Coated Sand to be well received in our market.”

Recent Nitamin Coated Sand studies conducted on golf courses and at The Ohio State University and Penn State University demonstrated benefits in divot recovery, post-aerification recovery, topdressing and acceleration of turf grow-in and recovery when compared to other fertilizer or standard turf establishment treatments, making it ideal for divot repair and in high-traffic areas such as tees and aprons of greens.

Nitamin Coated Sand is manufactured by and distributed through Mineral Visions, a subsidiary of Fairmount Minerals and is available in a variety of grades, including a green-dyed USGA sand.
