The Seawane Club is a private, links-style course located on the south shore of Long Island. Its seaside location often results in varied course conditions with some areas of the course running wet, while areas less than 20 feet away remain completely dry. Superintendent Brian Benedict relies on surfactants to precisely manage water conditions on the course.

“We’re an inch and a half golf course as far as rains go. Anything more and you’re looking at a day before you can get back out there,” Benedict says. “We’ve always used (Precision Laboratories') Cascade Plus on the greens, tees and approaches to drive the water down to create a dryer surface area.”
Because the water table is so high – only 30 inches to ground water – Benedict is unable to irrigate fairways with substantial amounts of water. Even with conditions such as high heat and humidity, he can only irrigate some fairways three-to-six minutes each night.
To round out Precision's Zone portfolio of products, Benedict uses EZ Tabs as part of the bunker application to further increase water infiltration. He uses Magnus to spread water uniformly, which targets water in the upper soil profile. Duplex is used at Seawane to improve certain pesticide applications to reduce the surface tension of water, allowing for better penetration.
