New superintendent to oversee Oconee course at Reynolds Plantation

Blake Garrett will run golf course maintenance on the Greensboro, Ga., course.

Linger Longer Communities announced its new course superintendent at The Oconee Course, located at Reynolds Plantation. Blake Garrett will oversee golf course maintenance on the Rees Jones-designed course which will host the PGA Cup, the premier international competition for PGA Professionals, this September.

Garrett joins Reynolds Plantation after 11 years in golf course maintenance. Most recently, he served as Golf Course Superintendent at the FarmLinks Golf Course in Sylacauga, Ala.

“We’re delighted to have a person with Blake’s talent join our agronomic team,” says Gary Goss, director of agronomy for Reynolds Plantation and Reynolds Landing. “I am confident that he will continue to provide great golfing conditions as he leads The Oconee.”

Prior to joining Reynolds Plantation, Garrett held various golf course maintenance positions and participated in the prestigious Walt Disney World Horticulture College Program in Orlando, Fla. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy and Soils/Turf Grass Management. He is a member of the United States Golf Association and The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

The Oconee Course is one of five golf courses at Reynolds Plantation, offering 99 holes of award-winning golf. It was named one of the “100 Must Play Courses of Georgia” by GolfStyles Magazine and hosted the 2007 Chick-fil-A Bowl Alma Mater which will be televised Christmas Day on CBS.
