Scott Nickerson, superintendent of The Country Club at New Seabury in Mashpee, Mass., has taken delivery of a package of turf care equipment from Jacobsen dealer Steven Willand, Inc.
The club is part of the Icahn Group and provides players with a choice of two courses with spectacular views of Nantucket Sound and Martha’s Vineyard: The Ocean at 7,200 yards with a par of 72 and The Dunes at 6,340 yards with a par of 70. The Dunes has recently been redesigned by Marvin Armstrong, lengthened and new bunkers and water hazards introduced.
Professional product demonstrations were a key to winning the business with George Wise, a sales representative with Steven Willand Inc., always available to provide the various equipment requested by the Club.
This admirably demonstrated the level of customer support that Nickerson and the New Seabury team would receive from their relationship with both Wise and Steven Willand, Inc.
The equipment fleet, which includes G-Plex III riding greens mowers, SLF-1880 and SLF-3400 fairway mowers, a Tri-King trim mower, AR-3 and AR-522 rough mowers, Eclipse walking greens mowers, a Cushman Turf-Truckster and Smithco sprayers, was valued at $487,000.
Financing was provided by Textron Financial Corporation and enabled the club to take delivery of the new equipment in April.
After utilizing the equipment for a few weeks, Nickerson, who has been at New Seabury for 18 years (11 of them as the superintendent), said: “Jacobsen equipment has a better quality of cut. Since using the AR-3 and the AR-522 our roughs have never looked so good. This fleet is more cost-effective and saves us time and money on labor and maintenance.”
