The Musser International Turfgrass Foundation is offering more assistance to graduate students in turfgrass-related study.

Established in 1969, the foundation has long selected and supported annual Award of Excellence winners researching turfgrass at the collegiate level. Now it’s adding scholarship — a $5,000 unrestricted grant.

To qualify, applicants need to be currently enrolled in a master’s of science program or received a master’s of science degree in the current calendar year, with research objectives relevant to turfgrass science and management. They also need to have maintained at least a 3.4 GPA over the last two years of undergraduate study.

Candidates need to be pursuing a course of study and thesis research problem in the area of turfgrass science that may encompass breeding and genetics, plant physiology, ecology and culture, oil science, pest management including weeds, diseases and insects, environmental science, economics and/or sociology.

The online application is available by sending an email to Mark Jordan at threeputtmark@gmail.com. Applicants will need to include academic transcripts and three letters of support — from professors, past employers or other close associates. The application deadline is December 1. Applicants will be notified of the results no later than March 1, 2026.
