Murray awarded Ritz-Carlton/Marriott’s golf professional of the year

The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club’s director of golf had been with the company since 2004.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. named Glen Murray, director of golf operations for The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla., the Ritz-Carlton/Marriott International Golf Professional of the Year.

The annual award is given to the individual who consistently performs and exceeds in areas of sales and profit, leadership in personnel development, innovative program development and affinity programs.

Murray began working as a golf intern with Marriott International in 2003. The following year he graduated from Methodist College and began working as an assistant golf professional at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes and shortly thereafter he was promoted to head golf professional at Grande Vista Resort. In 2005 he was named head golf professional at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club in Sarasota and in 2008 was promoted to director of golf. 

Murray has also served as a leader with numerous pre-openings and transition task force teams. During this time, The Ritz-Carlton Members Club has received industry and company awards including: Conde Nast magazine’s Top 100 Golf Resorts; Golf Magazine’s “Top 30 Places to Play Golf in Florida;” Zagat Survey’s “America’s Top Golf Courses;” Robb Report magazine’s “Best of the Best;” among other accolades.
