ChinaLinks, led by former Golf Magazine editor in chief George Peper, held a conference on May 19 and 20 in Beijing to introduce a select group of international golf course architects to major developers in China. Mark McCumber, Champions Tour player and member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects was among those in attendance.
McCumber and his brother Jim represented McCumber Golf. They shared their design philosophy and company history in front of some 400 people. Mark was honored as being one of only seven worldwide golf course architects asked to attend and speak at the conference.
McCumber Golf entered into an exclusive agreement with ChinaLinks. ChinaLinks will represent McCumber Golf in the Republic of China as it relates to future golf course design engagements.
China is the fastest emerging golf market in the world - presently there are some 300 courses in China and this number is predicted to rise to well over 500 by 2010.
