Mayfield Country Club and Sand Ridge Golf Club approve merger

Members of both clubs approved the merger, effective May 1.

Members of Mayfield Country Club and Sand Ridge Golf Club each voted overwhelmingly in favor of a merger between the two clubs.  This merger is the first of its kind in Northeast Ohio, and it is one of few private club mergers to have happened nationally.

Effective May 1, 2006, the membership of each respective club will be combined into a single membership with access to both outstanding facilities.  The newly-combined club will provide an unparalleled private club experience with the unique ability to attract new members in an increasingly competitive market. Members will have access to two top-tier golf courses and other activities, like swimming, tennis, curling, fine dining and banquet facilities.

The process of integrating activities and opening each club to the full, combined membership is already underway. A transition board of directors is working to assure effective governance while management staff is beginning to merge. A combined and enhanced events committee is planning several special activities, and the club’s golf professionals are coordinating schedules and programming to leverage the benefits of member access to two unique golf courses.

"Whether you are looking for family amenities such as tennis, swimming and fine dining or you are looking for an exceptional golf experience, the newly-combined club can meet your needs – we now offer the best of both worlds, says Robert G. McCreary, III, president of the newly-formed club.  "Our members are extremely excited to take advantage of the combined club’s services and amenities."
