Leading golf course architect
Marzolf has worked for Fazio Golf Course Designers since 1983 and is senior design associate with the firm. Among the notable layouts recently designed by Marzolf are Ritz Carlton Members Course, Sarasota, Fla.; The Greenbrier Sporting Club – The Snead Course, White Sulphur Springs, Va.; The Capital City Club – The Crabapple Course, Atlanta, Ga.; and The Green Monkey Course, Barbados, B.W.I.

Some of his recent remodeling projects include Oakmont Country Club, Oakmont, Pa.; Merion Golf Club, Ardmore, Pa.; Firestone Country Club – South Course, Akron, Ohio; Winged Foot Golf Course, Mamaroneck, N.Y.; and Oak Hill Country Club, Rochester, N.Y. Marzolf has also been a consulting architect for a number of golf tournaments, including the 2010 U.S. Open – Women’s; the 2006 and 2007 U.S. Opens; the 2002 U.S. Senior Open; the 2003, 2004 and 2005 U.S. Amateurs; and the 1997 and 2003 PGA Championships.

Marzolf became an associate member of ASGCA in 1990 and achieved full member status in 1993. As an ASGCA member, he has served on the board of governors and on the membership, technology and suppliers directory committees.

Marzolf’s platform as president will focus on educating golf club administrators and superintendents about the advantages of developing a working relationship with a golf course architect. This on-going collaboration, he feels, will help clubs continually improve their courses and monitor the layout’s condition on a hole-by-hole basis.

Founded in 1946, the ASGCA is a non-profit organization comprised of 171 golf course designers located throughout the United States and Canada. Members are actively involved in the design of new courses, the renovation of existing layouts, and issues affecting the future of the game.
