Marriott Golf names director of golf at Kansas golf club

Jeff Mccormick, most recently head golf professional at Doral Golf Resort & Spa, has taken the position.

Marriott Golf announced that Jeff McCormick has been named the director of golf at Cottonwood Hills Golf Club, a premier Nick Faldo designed 18-hole golf facility located in Hutchinson, Kan.

In this role, McCormick will oversee all golf operations, including golf and grounds maintenance, golf shop operations, retail merchandising, instruction, outings and tournament coordination, and all sales and marketing initiatives.

McCormick comes to Cottonwood Hills from Doral Golf Resort & Spa, having served as head golf professional from 2004 to 2006 at the world renowned 90-hole golf facility in Miami, Fla., that annually hosts a PGA TOUR event.  McCormick began his career with Marriott in 1998 as the golf tournament coordinator at Marriott’s Tan-Tar-A Resort, Osage Beach, Mo.  From there, he served in a variety of positions at some of Marriott’s premier facilities, including leadership roles at Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. and The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and Spa in Jupiter, Fla.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me, and I look forward to the challenge of directing the golf operations at Cottonwood Hills from its inception,” McCormick says.  “I am confident that my experience with Marriott Golf, including two years as the Head Professional at Doral, has fully prepared me for this position.”

Cottonwood Hills Golf Club is scheduled to open in July 2006.  The traditional links-style course, which has been carved from the natural sand hills of Kansas, will be the centerpiece of a celebrated 619-acre planned community.
