The Play Golf America marketing campaign has set its calendar of national promotions for 2009. This year’s events include the following initiatives.
April – PGA Free Fitting & Trade-Up Month
Free 15-minute equipment fitting sessions from participating PGA/LPGA Professionals throughout the month of April.
May – PGA Free Lesson Month
Free 10-minute golf lessons from participating PGA/LPGA Professionals. In its 12th year, PGA Free Lesson Month will reach the one million lesson mark in 2009.
June – American Express Women's Golf Month
American Express Women's Golf Month targets women and provides them an opportunity to learn, re-learn and play golf in a fun and friendly environment.
July – Family Golf Month
Throughout July, participating facilities offer family golf clinics and family golf play days for a nominal fee. These programs provide a structured, yet casual opportunity for families to learn and play the game of golf together and promote golf as a regular family recreation activity.
July 6-12 – Take Your Daughter to the Course Week
Participating golf courses across the country offer a free clinic for young ladies during the week and offer complimentary green fees to young ladies accompanied by paying adults.
July – Bring Your Kids to the Golf Range
Throughout July, participating facilities provide families buckets of range balls for a nominal cost.
Sept. 4-7 – Patriot Golf Day
Golfers across the country have the unique opportunity to donate a minimum of $1 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation (FoldsofHonor.org), which provides educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty. Participating public facilities will request a minimum of $1 for each green fee that’s processed Sept. 4-7, while private facilities will accept donations.
