Marathon event to help hurricane victims

Cranbury Golf Club’s 24 hours of golf will raise money for hurricane relief effort.

West Windsor, N.J. – Cranbury Golf Club will host a 24-hour marathon of golf events to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina Sept. 23 and will include a “Midnight Madness” golf tournament, reduction in rates for daylight tee times and an evening Voodoo Night Golf event.

The day will begin at midnight with the “Midnight Madness” night golf tournament. The cost to play in the tourney is $15. After the overnight rounds wrap up, Cranbury will offer a preferred rate of $29 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for 18-hole rounds that include use of golf carts, an array of prizes and hourly contests. Starting at 8 p.m., the “Voodoo Night Golf” event will wrap up the marathon day. That event costs $40 per player or $140 for a foursome and includes greens and cart fees, prizes and a pre-round barbeque.

Five dollars from every paid round played at Cranbury will be donated to the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts of the Red Cross of Central New Jersey.

“Cranbury’s customers have the biggest hearts and we all wanted to do something for the families and communities affected by Hurricane Katrina,” says Cranbury Golf Club’s general manager Colleen Suozzo. “Every paid round played on the course means more aid to the stricken areas and none of us will rest until every single tee time during the 24-hour marathon is filled with golfers.”
