Major players address Carolinas

Steve Mona, chief executive of the GCSAA and Roger Warren, president of the PGA of America, will headline this year’s Carolinas GCSA annual Conference and Trade Show Nov. 14 to 17.

Liberty, S.C. – Two of golf’s major players away from the course will headline this year’s Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association annual Conference and Trade Show in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Nov. 14 to 17. Steve Mona, chief executive of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and Roger Warren, president of the PGA of America, will engage in an hour-long dialogue on the state of the game. Together, Mona and Warren represent the professional interests of close to 50,000 industry employees.

“This is a special opportunity for our conference attendees to gauge the pulse of the industry at the highest levels,” says Carolinas GCSA executive director, Chuck Borman. “Steve and Roger talk regularly in a business setting but not often together in a public forum. This is a challenging time for an industry that is so critical to the economies of North and South Carolina. This discussion will have relevance far beyond the interests of the golf course superintendent and the golf professional.”

Golf contributes more than $3 billion in economic benefit to North and South Carolina each year through tourism, wages, taxes and other sources.

Industry commentator, Pat Jones, will moderate the discussion from 4:15p.m. Nov. 16, at Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

The Carolinas GCSA Conference and Trade Show is the largest regional event of its kind in the country. Attendees have access to more than 100 hours of formal education and approximately 100,000 square feet of exhibits featuring the latest trends, techniques and equipment for golf course maintenance. Exhibit booth sales already exceed last year’s record number and the number of attendees from neighboring states continues to grow.

Some of the country’s leading researchers and educators will instruct golf course superintendents in cutting edge developments at the conference. Superintendents are required to continually update their education and skills to maintain professional classifications and meet licensing requirements.
