Maderas Golf Club attracts golfer of all skill levels

The Maderas Golf Club, a Johnny Miller/ Robert Muir Graves design, opened in October of 1999 and has become a favorite for corporate events as well as all levels of golf aficionados.

Tucked in the hills of Rancho Bernardo/Poway, just a short ride from downtown La Jolla or Del Mar, is a Southern California picture of serenity--one that provides a true escape from the stress and strains faced by today's business executives.

The Maderas Golf Club, a Johnny Miller/ Robert Muir Graves design, opened in October of 1999 and has become a favorite for corporate events as well as all levels of golf aficionados. Oracle, Pepsi, Qualcomm, Bank of America, Pfizer, and Callaway are among the many local and national companies that have enjoyed play on this highly ranked championship course.

Rated as number one in San Diego and number six in all of California by the Zagat Guide, in both 2003 & 2004, Maderas has garnered a reputation for beauty, challenge and exemplary service. The Zagat rating was particularly gratifying to Maderas ownership and fans, as the course was compared to the PGA-tested Torrey Pines Golf Course, which was selected for the 2008 United States Open Tournament. Asociated with the world renowned Troon Golf Management Company since its inception, Maderas combines a championship layout with the meticulous attention to detail for which Troon Golf and the course's ownership, San Diego's Sunroad Enterprises, are known. In short, Maderas provides an experience that is often imitated but rarely realized, as the staff anticipates every need in a highly personalized manner.

The approach to the club winds through the hills of the Rancho Bernardo area and Heritage Estates--lots start at $ 1 million and the "home show" along the periphery of the club is worth the drive alone. Guests are met immediately by knowledgeable staff that take pride in providing a "sense of arrival," as well as the information and assistance necessary to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

The Tuscan-style clubhouse, designed by the same architect as that of the "The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe," becomes a guest's focal point. The current 12,000-square foot clubhouse represents only a portion of the ultimate plan and is scheduled for expansion in the near term. The current facility offers an attractively priced and fully stocked golf shop, locker rooms for both men and women, a dining room, fully stocked lounge and some of the finest patio dining in the region. There is also a private area that can accommodate up to 75 people for meetings, dinners or family events.

The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and Maderas' food, whether cheeseburgers or haute cuisine, is the equal of any area restaurant or hotel.

Plans for the new addition include a special event facility that will accommodate much larger events, as well as individual or corporate functions--weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, meetings, and banquets for all occasions.

Jack Kirkpatrick, the club's general manager notes that the staff's objective is to ensure that every guest feels as though they are members of an exclusive private club for the day. And though Maderas remains a semi-private facility, open to the public, this goal is realized.

Additionally, Maderas is now introducing a new program to enhance both local access and the "member for a day" concept. Three levels of membership--offered on a 12-month renewable basis--are featured and incorporate advantages for both individuals and businesses. Maderas is a course eminently fair to all levels of players, offering six sets of tees ranging from more than 7,100 yards down to as little as 4,950 from the forward tees. Five waterfalls, three lakes and more than 40 acres of wildflowers help make Maderas a memorable year round experience, offering as much or as little challenge as players find appealing.

To complete this golf experience, the club is fully staffed and equipped to provide the food, drink and personalized service any golfer, corporate planner, association manager or bride would desire.

Company outings and banquets, as well as weddings and bar mitzvahs are specialties that have been greatly in demand. Groups are accommodated from eight to 150 persons. Maderas boasts an award-winning chef whose team can prepare virtually any style of cuisine in an atmosphere that is casual, yet luxurious. Combine that with extraordinary vistas provided by the club's location, and inspiration--in golf, business or personal--is certain to follow.

On and off the course, Maderas makes business and personal events more convenient and enjoyable.

Maderas offers three levels of membership, each featuring distinct benefits for individuals and businesses.
