LESCO, a supplier of professional turf grass products to superintendents across the country, has added four new LESCO Stores-on-Wheels vehicles to its fleet for increased customer service. As a result, the Company now has 115 such vehicles visiting golf courses daily.
These new Stores-on-Wheels will serve golf course superintendents in:
- Central Virginia
- Minneapolis, Minn.
- Vermont
- Western Iowa/Eastern Nebraska

LESCO’s investment in the future of the golf course industry comes one year after an overhaul of its LESCO Stores-on-Wheels vehicle fleet increased LESCO’s mobile fleet from 72 to 111 units. LESCO has served golf course superintendents since 1962, and the Company introduced its first Store-on-Wheel in 1976, making this year the 30th anniversary of these vehicles.
“LESCO’s Store-on-Wheels vehicles and, more importantly, the LESCO sales associates operating those vehicles, have driven LESCO’s sales efforts in the golf course market,” says Jeff Rutherford, LESCO’s president and chief executive officer. “LESCO has been focused on serving superintendents’ needs since 1962, and we have steadily increased the number of Stores-on-Wheels bringing products directly to golf courses since introducing our first such vehicle 30 years ago. Our growth will continue as we continue investing in the future of the golf course industry and in the service we provide to superintendents.
“While superintendents clearly appreciate the convenience of being able to purchase quality products right off the vehicle, the real key to the Company’s leadership position in the golf market is that each LESCO Store-on-Wheels vehicle is operated by a LESCO sales associate with an extensive technical background,” continues Rutherford. “These LESCO associates are problem solvers for many superintendents, recommending products and programs for troublesome turf issues.”
In addition, the Company continues opening new LESCO Service Center locations, with six more opening their doors in the first quarter of 2006. Many superintendents rely on the nearest of these 300+ locations for any last-minute or immediate product needs. These newest LESCO Service Centers are in:

- Newport News, Va.
- Lanham, Md.
- Brooksville, Fla.
- Lecanto, Fla.
