The Legends Golf Course in Eureka, Missouri, has announced a $1.4 million golf course renovation project that will replace and renovate greens and bunkers on the 32-year-old, 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed course. The work will be guided by St. Louis-based golf course architect Art Schaupeter.

“We have commissioned Art Schaupeter, a local and nationally renowned golf course architect, to devise a master plan which includes a complete replacement of all greens and bunkers on the RTJ course,” said Matthew Iovaldi, managing partner for the Legends Golf Partners.  “We are truly excited to bring our members the largest renovation since the club opened. We will continue to be a top tier golf course in the St. Louis area, and provide our members with the best value in membership among family friendly golf and country clubs.”

The renovation will begin this summer and continue through 2023. The initial scope of work includes expanding the greens to their original sizes and seeding with bentgrass. Bunkers will be rebuilt to include new drainage, a liner and new white sand. Irrigation loops around greens will also be replaced and upgraded, improving the ability to grow-in the greens and complete all work around the greens at one time so that the greens aren’t taken out of play.  As part of the project, Schaupeter will be reconstructing and expanding the practice green and adding a short game practice area.

“With the focus of our renovations to The Legends over the next two years concentrating on the greens, bunkers and practice amenities, our efforts will have a direct and positive impact on all golfers,” Schaupeter said. “Our renovations are going to improve the quality of the golfing experience and create a higher-level encounter that gets back to the original design by providing much-improved conditioning and a lot of interesting and engaging strategic considerations within a very playable and enjoyable golf course.”

Over the past eight years, the Legends Golf Partners has invested over $5 million to enhance the country club and golf course.
