The Otesaga Resort Hotel announced the appointment of Michael O’Neill as golf course superintendent for the resort’s 18-hole Leatherstocking Golf Course. O’Neill will join the company Jan. 2, 2018.
“Michael is a proven leader, and we’re excited to welcome him to the Otesaga family as we plan for the 2018 season,” said Jim Miles, general manager and COO of The Otesaga and the Cooper Inn.
O’Neill brings more than 15 years of experience to his role leading the team at Leatherstocking Golf Course, one of the East Coast's most scenic and challenging resort courses. He joins the resort from Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse, where he spent 12 years. He has also spent time as an assistant superintendent at Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charlestown, R.I., Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pa., Pinehurst No. 8 in Pinehurst, N.C., and Great Bear Country Club in Shawnee on the Delaware, Pa.
O’Neill received his degree in turfgrass science from Penn State University and is a Certified Golf Course Superintendent. He’s a member of the GCSAA past president of the Central New York Golf Course Superintendent’s Association.
