Landscapes Unlimited has announced the renewal of its certification from The Interlocal Purchasing System.
Landscapes Unlimited was founded 40 years ago as a golf-specific contractor/builder, but today its work extends beyond course development, management and irrigation services to include soup-to-nuts sports field development, green space development, environmental remediation, mass excavation and grading.
The TIPS certification achieved by LU this spring (Contract: 2042816 for Trades, Labor and Material) pegs Landscapes as an approved vendor through April 27, 2017. This is one of four categories where LU has achieved TIPS certification. The other three include 2112113 (Outdoor Management), 4042414 (Synthetic or Natural Sports Fields, Courts or Tracks) and 7092514 (Synthetic Turf, Courts or Tracks-Louisiana Only).
TIPS enables member institutions and municipalities from all over the country to avail themselves of LU's expertise (in addition to the expertise of all certified vendors) without any prior experience with or awareness of Landscapes.
"Each of these contract certifications must be renewed every year to ensure vendors like us meet all the standards for pre-approval," said LU project manager Jeff Cordes, who coordinates TIPS certification for the Lincoln, Neb.-based company. "It's a lot of work, but it really does benefit member institutions in the school and municipal markets, which don't always have a good feel for who a qualified contractor is, and who isn't, in these very niche markets. TIPS essentially does the vetting for them."
Cordes cited the Leon Tuttle Athletic Complex in Rockwall, Texas, as an example of the TIPS resource in action. Landscapes recently completed this 14-acre, four-diamond facility on behalf of the Rockwall Parks & Recreation Department.
In qualifying under these various contract categories, LU is certified to handle this broad range of development, construction, maintenance and operation services including pre-construction and planning services, site development, mass excavation, grading and laser leveling, irrigation and drainage installation, water features, playgrounds, lighting, landscape construction, complete sports fields and athletic complex development (natural and synthetic), green space development, environmental remediation and mitigation, golf course construction and renovation and all amenity structures associated with these types of projects through TIPS.
