KemperSports adds another facility in Calif.

The Northbrook, Ill.-based management company will operate the 9-hole public Wild Wings Golf Club in Woodland, Calif.

The board of directors of Yolo County, Calif., selected KemperSports to manage Wild Wings Golf Club in Woodland, Calif. The 9-hole public golf course and clubhouse is the centerpiece of the upscale Wild Wings residential community located 30 miles northwest of Sacramento. KemperSports is based in Northbrook, Ill.

Built in 2005, Wild Wings Golf Club offers golfers a challenging par-36, 3,157-yard layout with 13 lakes and strategically placed bunkers. The course boasts stellar playing conditions with wide undulating Bermuda fairways that play hard and fast. The course’s bentgrass greens were voted “best greens in the valley” by the Sacramento Bee in 2006 and 2007.

“KemperSports is a natural partner for carrying out Wild Wings’ vision,” says Marcus Ullrich, chairman of the RFP committee for Yolo County Services which was responsible for choosing the course operator. “The selection of KemperSports to manage the golf club allows Wild Wings residents the opportunity to blend their long range vision for a quality golf course community by utilizing KemperSports’ reputation for providing a memorable golf experience.”

With the addition of Wild Wings Golf Club, KemperSports now manages 15 golf courses in Calif., including Harding Park, host of The Presidents Cup 2009, Valencia Country Club, host of the Champions Tour AT&T Classic and Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, Calif.

The golf course, which has been closed for approximately three months, is re-opening after Wild Wings residents overwhelmingly approved to take over the operation of the golf course in cooperation with Yolo County by a 76 percent vote.
