Golf Architect Barry Jordan recently completed a two hole renovation at the historic Green Lakes Golf Course at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, N.Y. The 1936 design by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. is one of the most popular golf courses in upstate New York and is known for its brilliant routing over a fascinating landscape of rolling land. It is the first major renovation to the course in decades.
Ironically, the majority of the work completed by Jordan involved substantial changes to the 12th green complex, one of only two greens that are not original to the design.
“We wanted a treatment that was more in keeping with the original design," Jordan says. "The solution was therefore influenced by Jones’ original work at the course as we solved a variety of playability issues”.
The new 12th hole complex opened this spring for it’s first full season of play.
Barry Jordan is the principal architect for Jordan Golf Design, located in Manlius, N.Y.
