Architect Rees Jones, son of Robert Trent Jones Sr., will design the 18-hole golf course that would surround the proposed Riverside Casino and Golf Resort complex. Jones has designed more than 100 courses, redesigned seven U.S. Open venues, five PGA courses, three Ryder Cup sites and one Walker Cup site.

The Riverside casino complex will involve about 325 acres of Iowa hills, prairie and the Iowa River banks. The facility is projected to generate about 26,000 rounds a year. The average green fees for the proposed golf course could be $69 for overnight guests and locals for the first year of operation in 2007.

Jones received worldwide recognition for restoration of The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., for the 1988 U.S. Open, according to Golf Course Management magazine's December 2003 issue. Other restorations include the Bethpage State Park's Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. for the 2002 U. S. Open; the Torrey Pines South golf course in San Diego, Atlanta Athletic Club in Duluth, Ga.; and East Lake Golf Club.

Jones received the 2004 Old Tom Morris Award for lifetime commitment to the welfare of the game of golf. His father received the award in 1987.
