KemperSports named John Vest general manager of Chuck Corica Golf Complex in Alameda, Calif. Vest brings to the position 20 years of experience in the golf industry and has been a Class ‘A’ member of the PGA since 2001.
Vest will assume responsibilities at Chuck Corica Golf Complex after serving as director of golf at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo, Calif., as well as interim general manager of Heron Lakes Golf Club in Portland, Ore., both KemperSports-managed facilities.
“John has quickly proven himself as a terrific leader,” says KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “His experience and innovative spirit will be a strong asset as we begin our partnership with the City of Alameda.”
Prior to joining KemperSports, Vest was the general manager of Oakhurst Country Club in Clayton, Calif., and the head professional at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, Calif.
Built in 1929 by William Park Bell, who also designed Las Vegas Golf Club and Bel-Air Country Club, the Earl Fry golf course at Chuck Corica Golf Complex is a local favorite. Jack Clark golf course is a William Francis Bell-designed layout that offers golfers a British-style, links course with windswept fairways, sandy waste areas and large true greens. The highly acclaimed facility is the annual host of the Alameda Commuters Golf Tournament, which has been played at Chuck Corica Golf Complex since 1928, when golfers commuted via ferry to San Francisco.
A San Francisco Bay area native, Vest currently resides in Oakland, Calif.
