The Marin Country Club makeover in Novato, Calif., left no blade of grass unturned. The entire course has been rebuilt and the layout has taken on a “Golden Age” character. Fescue faced bunkers and natural water features are now brought into play.
Longtime member and Hall of Fame player Johnny Miller and USGA Past President Walter Driver were on hand for the opening of The Country Club at Salt Lake City. After over a year of construction involving all the greens, tees, bunkers and native areas, as well as the rerouting of a creek along three fairways, Harbottle’s renovation of this Willie Watson original is open for play. The course has taken on a classical look with risk-reward strategies built back into the design.
