In the spirit of the season, the Island Resort & Casino is partnering with Coca-Cola to bring the festive Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan to town.
The Island Resort & Casino is an amenity-rich property in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, owned by the Hannahville Indian Community which is building the Sweetgrass Golf Course scheduled, to open next summer.
The caravan, an 18-wheel semi-truck decorated with 25,000 twinkling lights, will offer local residents a merry mix of holiday activities while spreading the holiday spirit. The five-day visit will officially kick-off with the Caravan’s arrival at the Island Resort & Casino Dec. 5.
All are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items, new children’s toys, hats, scarves, mittens and jackets to help those who need them. Donations will go to the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots in the area.
Lots of events are scheduled including families, friends and neighbors visiting with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear, getting free pictures taken with Santa Claus, free gifts for kids, free refreshments, and viewing the sparkling Coca-Cola Caravan.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Coca-Cola Caravan to the area so everyone can enjoy it and we can join in the spirit of the season,” said Susan Harris, Marketing Director for the Island Resort & Casino. “This event will provide holiday fun and memories.”
There are only five Coca-Cola Caravan trucks traveling the United States for the holidays.
In addition to spreading the spirit and magic of Christmas, the caravan will celebrate Coca-Cola’s national partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program by bringing local communities together to provide thousands of needy kids with gifts this Christmas. Coca-Cola will donate more than 100,000 gifts to Toys for Tots through a book and cash donation. As part of the partnership, visitors at each Caravan stop will be encouraged to send a greeting to Santa’s workshop by dropping it in the Toys for Tots North Pole Outpost located at each Caravan site. For every letter received during the tour, Coca-Cola will donate one dollar to Toys for Tots, up to $25,000.
