ISCO hosts irrigation summit in Louisville

The high density polyethylene pipe manufacturer hosted more than 70 contractors, designers, engineers, superintendents and consultants in December at a Louisville summit.

In continuing promotion of use of high density polyethylene pipe in the golf and turf industry, ISCO hosted over 70 contractors, designers, engineers, superintendents and consultants from all over the nation in December at a special Louisville summit.

Fla

The three day meeting was filled with presentations and demonstrations about the use of HDPE in the golf and turf industry, and the group was provided with the latest information about HDPE pipe, fittings, and applications. Attending contractors were able to participate in a full day ISCO Fusion Academy that gave them hands-on instruction on fusion techniques on the latest fusion equipment. Other participants attended a HDPE design and specification workshop that included some fusion instruction. Attendees also toured ISCO’s new Louisville Riverport facility and learned about HDPE testing procedures.

“This was a huge undertaking on our part,” said ISCO Chairman and founder Jim Kirchdorfer, Sr.  “But the use of HDPE in golf and turf over other piping products is booming and there was a real need for a summit like this. We’re happy we were able to step up and provide the information and instruction to this key group of influential industry professionals,” said Kirchdorfer.

The Summit was well-received by participants.

“This Irrigation Summit went far beyond our expectations and underscores ISCO’s commitment to this industry. One of Aspen’s company goals is to ‘under promise and over delivery,’ and ISCO sure did that on this Summit. I would welcome the opportunity to attend again, and recommend that others in the industry attend the Summit in 2007 if possible,” said Donnie Adkins, a contractor with Aspen Corporation in Daniels, West Virginia.

HDPE is a durable, flexible plastic pipe that comes in many sizes from 1 to 65 inches in diameter. It is getting wide acceptance in the municipal, industrial, landfill, geothermal, gas & energy, quarries & mining, and in golf and turf industries for its excellent performance qualities and leak-proof capabilities. The pipe is leak-proof because unlike other types of pipe (like PVC or ductile iron) that contain joints that can leak, HDPE is actually heat fused into a continuous system with special fusion equipment – so no joint actually exists – the pipe is seamless. This is especially important in the golf/turf industry where leakage and failure due to water hammer is a frequent, costly problem.

ISCO Industries distributes HDPE pipe, fittings and fusion equipment for sale or rent. Visit the Web site is www.isco-pipe.com.

ISCO is planning another Summit this year. If interested in attending contact Doug Zak at (614) 306-2141.
