Falls Church, Va. - The 27th Annual International Irrigation Show, featuring the largest collection of irrigation-related products in the world, will be in the heart of historic downtown San Antonio along the banks of the famous River Walk in November 2006.
The show runs Nov. 5-7 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, with irrigation classes for working professionals and Certification exams offered Nov. 2-7.
Industry tours will feature behind-the-scenes tours offering a look into regional agriculture or landscape irrigation. The tours are scheduled Nov. 4, a day before the show instead of the day following as in previous years.
The new product contest will feature new products in turf/landscape, agriculture and golf. Contest entries are due by Sept. 29. To be eligible, products must have been introduced to the market between Nov. 22, 2005, and Nov. 5, 2006.
All of the Irrigation Association's courses will be offered in conjunction with the show. New audit guidelines will be unveiled in the certified landscape irrigation auditor class. Understanding Pumps, Controls and Wells and the Certified Irrigation Contractor courses have been updated.
The SMART Technologies for Landscape Irrigation Management course, introduced at last year's show, is back by popular demand. The course delves into the nuts and bolts of choosing, installing and using smart technology, which is requested and even required in many communities.
A full schedule of Irrigation Association Certification exams also is offered. Early applications are required for Certified Irrigation Designer and Certified Irrigation Contractor exams.
Daily technical sessions will provide insight into research, programs and case studies in agriculture, landscape and water management.
Other highlights: The American Society of Plasticulture is holding its 33rd Congress in conjunction with the show; boots, beer and barbecue will be the theme of the IA contractor reception, and the affiliate leadership conference will focus on putting a legislative agenda in motion, coalition building and increasing and maintaining membership.
