The Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, has redesigned its Web site (www.eifg.org) to communicate its environmental progress and highlight successful efforts by superintendents and golf facilities.
First launched in 2004, the site was designed to be a primary source for information on golf and the environment, and to communicate environmental successes and achievements to a broad audience. Feedback was gathered from a variety of sources, most notably the environmental programs committee and related environmental task groups, to assist with the redesign of the site.
“For the last 18 months, we’ve been working collaboratively to identify and set programs in motion to achieve the Institute’s mission and vision,” says Michael D. Hurdzan, Ph.D., chairman of the board of trustees for the Institute. “The redesigned site advances the Institute’s mission by showcasing resources, information and environmental progress relevant to golf and the environment, and providing opportunities to support environmental stewardship.”
The Institute’s redesigned Web site includes numerous improvements on such features as:
· Case study and BMP submissions – The Institute’s online resource (EDGE) is the golf course management industry’s source for best management practices and case studies on a variety of environmental topics. Users can now submit and share their own actual case studies and BMPs.
· Focus area landing pages – The new site has expanded to feature comprehensive tools, information and resources on the Institute’s five areas of focus (water management; integrated plant management; wildlife and habitat management; golf course siting, design and construction; and energy and waste management).
· News room – The news room allows users to keep up to date with the latest golf and environmental news coming from the Institute and outside sources.
· Photo zone – Users can now submit and share their own photos related to the Institute’s five areas of focus to showcase their environmental stewardship efforts. Selected photographs will be used to help build a future photo zone library.
The Web site retains popular features including donor opportunities and recognition, board of trustees and advisory council information, research and educational programs.
