Peoria, Ill. - WeaverRidge Golf Course selected the Advantage GPS Golf Business Solution from UpLink Corp. to provide customers with the ultimate golf and service experience. In addition to full-color interactive GPS units installed on each golf car, WeaverRidge will take advantage of the solution’s completely integrated advertising, tournament and fleet management options.
“WeaverRidge is a high-end facility and the only course in Peoria to offer the type of golf and customer experience that UpLink’s solutions can provide,” comments Jared Schlipf, general manager with WeaverRidge. “Not only are we looking forward to attracting and retaining more golfers with our new solution, but offsetting the costs with GPS advertising. WeaverRidge finds GPS advertising to be a less expensive, yet powerful alternative to having sponsor signs at the holes. Their advertisers agree, and prior to installing UpLink’s solution, WeaverRidge presold 16 GPS advertising spots at an average cost of $3,500 per spot, totaling $56,000.
“More than attracting additional golfers and advertisers, UpLink’s solutions are helping us improve the bottom line everywhere across the course,” Schlipf adds. “One of the most obvious areas of improvement is pace-of-play, but we’re seeing increases in other areas such as tournaments and pro-shop and food and beverage sales.”
WeaverRidge also finds the IQLink Fleet Manager module to be a big help when it comes to controlling costs. By using the system to track golf cars and replay vehicle paths, WeaverRidge can monitor where and how car damage occurred, minimizing insurance claim costs. With the cart path control function, they can control where their cars can and cannot go, preventing access to restricted areas and reducing the costs associated with course damage.
WeaverRidge decided to replace its existing GPS system when it received its new fleet of Club Car golf cars.
“We were using another GPS system, but when we got our new fleet of golf cars, we found that the units were too heavy and required a roof replacement to install, meaning additional costs to us," Schlipf says. "We decided to rethink our GPS needs, and selected UpLink. The units were easy to install, and the team was in and out very quickly. Moreover, they helped us secure advertisers and promote our GPS system to the community.”
