Falls Church, Va. – Jim Barrett has been named recipient of the 2005 Irrigation Association Industry Achievement Award for his work in golf course irrigation design.
Established in 1966, the award recognizes individuals within the industry for significant contributions to the advancement of irrigation. The award will be presented Nov. 7 at the Keynote Breakfast during the 26th Annual International Irrigation Show in Phoenix.
Barrett is president of James Barrett Associates Inc., a golf irrigation consulting firm. Barrett was one of the first independent irrigation consultants.
“He has been setting the criteria for golf course irrigation design for over 30 years,” says IA past-president Brian Vinchesi, who nominated Barrett. “He comes up with innovative ways of doing things, and the industry follows.”
An IA certified irrigation designer (Golf) and certified landscape irrigation auditor, Barrett has served on the IA certification board since 1992. He was a member of the IA board of directors in 1999. Barrett has also served on the technical conference program and education committees.
